Harvest Time
Exciting times for hemp growers! The 2024 hemp season is ending, and it’s time to harvest. Harvesting hemp can be a big event, especially if you’re looking forward to the yields for CBD, fiber, or seeds. In our research program we use a sickle mower to harvest fiber plots.

Grain hemp variety trial
Our grain variety trial shows a wide range of maturity. Some varieties are setting seeds, and some are still in the vegetative growth stage. The trial was planted on May 19, 2024 and the video was taken on July 24, 2024.

NIHH Hemp Building Workshop
The University of Illinois – Hemp Research program was able to be part of the the Hemp Building Workshop put on by the Northern Illinois Hemp Hub (NIHH). We were able to get hands on experience by helping build the first permitted hemp structure in Illinois.
